USS SWORDFISH SSN-579 - Original Navy Brass plaque. The brass emblem measures 7 1/2 x 8 inches and held in place with 2 bolts from behind. The wood is oak with a metal hanger for support on the wall. There are 2 small blemishes on the wood finish and it will re-finish nicely. The plaque shows lots of dust which tells me this has been hanging around instead of being in storage. I don't really want to let this one go.

For some reason , the " LSD-25 " has been blacked out , but it is readable. The detail is in excellent condition and would refinish very well. An interesting and rare piece of US Navy history.

Hello to all of my new friends. I'm getting all kinds of questions about how do I know if the plaque is real Navy and not Chinese. Weeeeell , it helps if you've been around the foundry and have seen these brass emblems being made and yes I've been there.

The really big thingie to watch out for today , when someone tells you it's brass , is to ask if it's real brass or brass powder filled resin. You would not believe how many of those other brass plaques are being sold as real brass. What you need is the resin and brass powder. Make a shell inside the mold with your resin/brass mixture and when it hardens , you then pour in a filler material to fill up the mold cavity. Usually , this filler stuff is resin with old washers to give it a heavy feel , mix in some coloring and there you are. I always have a magnet on hand just in case I have a doubt.

I can tell you , I've seen just about everything out there and what I sell here is the real deal. No one has accused me of anything less. Please ask your questions and thank you for stopping by.

Ebay usually has many Navy plaques for sale. Some sellers are junk dealers and some sellers are scam artists. If a seller says the item is made of resin (not a kit) then they are lying to you. Resin is a kit and the person is making them in their garage.
I can show you how to make a plaque emblem and I will give you the mold as well. My molds are standing the test of time right now , with many going on 20 years and still going strong , making emblems.
There was a biggie auction in New York and a seller had several Navy plaques for the auction block , stating they were the real deal. Someone pointed out , they all came from Ebay and proved it with pictures. Needless to say , that seller is no longer welcome at that auction house and "yes" , the word got out and that same person is no longer welcome at other auction houses either.

I've been told that my prices are too high. Actually , they are not. Many of my items are from the NAVY. Meaning , they were made in the NAVY , by NAVY personnel.

Today , plaques are typically made in China , purchased from a trophy shop. Sometime around 1980 , the NAVY shut down many of the foundries. The personnel making those plaques were placed elsewhere and/or retired.

Most of these plaques are a work of art and in time , these items will appreciate in value.

Like I've said , they don't make these any more. AND , the ships and units are long gone.

Hi everyone - this has certainly been interesting. I've met new people who have become new friends. I've been told some prices are somewhat pricey. It's like this , these plaques are the real deal. They were not made in an arts and craft fair. Yes , I can make these and I can even make the molds. But , I don't do this. There are several people doing this on DuhBay and they do not tell people these were made in their arts and craft class.

The plaques made of brass are real Navy brass , made by real Navy personnel. If you want a plaque and disagree with the price , which does include shipping and insurance , then make me an offer. What's so difficult about that?

Yes , I do know about a certain person taking some fake Navy plaques to a popular auction house and he got busted BIG time. This person was well known through out and now he can no longer sell things at this auction house in New York. They do not tolerate misleading information. Period. I'm telling it like it is.

USS ENTERPRISE CVN-65 Original Brass plaque. Stands 11 inches tall. Needs a good cleaning and polishing. Under neath the green , is excellent detail and I will leave the cleaning to it's new owner. The brass emblem is 9/16 ths thick. Mounted on hard wood with 2 bolts from the back. These are rare.
