USS RUSHMORE LSD 14 plaque - reunion

USS RUSHMORE LSD - 14 Original Navy plaque made of painted aluminum. The emblem measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Has 2 bolts holding the emblem from the back and the wood appears to be Oak.

Make an offer. There are more plaques here. What are you looking for?

Thank you

i hope you can tell me if sailors traditionally recieved silver beltbuckles when they worked on ships? i have come across one from the uss canisteo ao-99, and am worried that it might be meaningful to a vet. please let me know if there are reproductions made of these, or if i need to try to reunite it with its owner. thank you, k. swanson

Hi Brandy - sailors had to "BUY" their own buckles , these were sold in the ships store. Otherwise , they used a simple brass buckle. Sailors would buy these buckles to I.D. themselves with their command. Over time , many Vets sell these since they can not work and/or do not have an income. Today , some people collect these from decommissioned ships/units. Today , several Chinese companies "Bootleg" these buckles and you would need to know what you are looking at , to know if it is real or something else.

Thank you for this question Brandy. I tried to see your blog and could not.

How would you know who the owner is?
